WORKPLACE CULTURE  ASSESSMENT & TRANSFORMATION

WHY SHOULD YOU DO A WORKPLACE CULTURE ASSESSMENT?

An organization’s ability to achieve its strategic initiatives depends on leadership’s ability to ensure employees are working toward common goals. Building a thriving, sustainable culture results in high levels of employee engagement to meet or exceed those strategic goals and objectives.

An organizational culture assessment helps leaders better define and understand their current work environments, while also identifying practical strategies to advance culture at an individual, team and organizational level.

Company Values

MAY SHIFT WITH THE CULTURE

HOW IT WORKS

The Process

We suggest a two-phase approach to culture assessment, beginning with a work-environment survey and followed by employee interviews.

Phase I

  • To enable every employee to provide feedback on the current state of the culture, Noble Hill will administer a 25-question survey.
  • Through the survey, employees will have the opportunity to provide feedback on various components of culture within five engagement themes: work environment, associate experience, associate development, communication, and innovation.
  • Additionally, employees may also provide open-ended comments about any aspect of work culture not specifically addressed.

Phase II

  • Following the survey, Noble Hill will conduct in-depth one-on-one interviews with a subset of employees representative of the overall organization.
  • The purpose of these conversations is to understand better the employees’ experiences and beliefs, the cultural pillars of the organization, and any factors that may deter the client from achieving its aspirational culture.
  • We recommend that these interviews be facilitated by video conference (Zoom or Teams) and, to maintain confidentiality, are scheduled at a time that affords the employee privacy and does not conflict with work responsibilities.
  • Noble Hill will ask the employee to reserve one hour for the interview and will schedule the interviews directly and privately using an online scheduling tool.

Leadership Debrief

Using learnings from the survey and interviews, Noble Hill will synthesize employee feedback to identify key themes. We will prepare a comprehensive presentation to share these themes, along with strategic recommendations and suggestions for how to prioritize cultural initiatives.

Timing

Typically, a two-phase culture assessment can be completed in three to four months. While we recommend that leaders constantly ask for feedback from their employees, formal culture assessments – to achieve optimal results and accurately measure progress made – should be administered annually or biennially.

WORKPLACE CULTURE ASSESSMENT &

TRANSFORMATION CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Noble Hill led our recent culture assessment, which involved an associate survey, one-on-one interviews, and multiple presentations to report out the findings and identify an action plan. The insight we gained from Noble Hill’s research was both thorough and relevant to our goals for this project. We were provided with realistic action items that we could implement both in the short and long term to build on our company’s strong culture. Our associates enjoyed working with Noble Hill during this process and the results from this joint effort have been incredible. Our company has since formed an internal Culture Committee to continue the culture work and we look forward to collaborating with Noble Hill again in the near future.

Director of Personal Development & Customer Service

We have a long history of working with Noble Hill Consulting, and chose to engage the consulting team to initiate a cultural survey of our existing associates prior to a merger that would double the size of our organization. We wanted to get a pulse of the associate engagement in advance of such a significant change. The team at Noble Hill Consulting organized an online questionnaire and facilitated in-depth, virtual interviews with a percentage of the respondents. The response rate was very high and our associates honestly shared the strengths and limitations of working in our organization. The Noble Hill team shared the results of the comprehensive assessment, first with our Leadership team, and following with all associates. The final report included a series of recommendations that we are currently acting on to continue to improve the culture of our business.

Human Resources & Operations Quality Manager

The work we completed with Noble Hill on company culture and associate engagement has paid dividends for our business. The data collection process was very effective with 99% of our team completing the survey and 20 associates spending an hour or longer in a phone interview. Noble Hill was able to synthesize the survey data with the live interviews and come up with actionable themes and recommendations that will propel our organization forward. We should benefit from our work with Noble Hill for the foreseeable future.
