This month marks five years since we launched Noble Hill Consulting. Some of you may know that “Noble Hill” is a loose translation of our family name, Kogelnik, from the Slovenia region, which makes this business deeply personal from the start. We launched three months into the pandemic, when uncertainty felt like the only constant. Ironic timing? Maybe. But when the world felt upside down, starting Noble Hill felt exactly right.
Over the past five years, Lacey and I have poured everything we have into this company and our clients. That’s meant countless nights and weekends working on the business—Saturday mornings writing proposals, late evenings refining project timelines and processes—so that during the week, I can stay focused on working in the business, directly serving you.
Like we often tell clients: you can’t improve what you don’t measure. That’s why, earlier this year, we began our own process of continuous improvement. We partnered with students from Baldwin Wallace University’s Ratcliffe Growth Practice, a professionally led and student-supported consultancy, to conduct Voice of the Customer interviews with many of our clients. We didn’t want to rely on assumptions. We wanted an outside perspective. Bonus: we love giving college students meaningful, real-world work experience.
The engagement was both humbling and validating, especially when the students shared a word cloud they created from client feedback.

Seeing how our clients describe working with us, in their own words, was honestly emotional. Words like “personalized” and “tailored” stood out. But what surprised us most was how often clients mentioned feeling heard and “understood.” When we launched Noble Hill, we hoped to make a meaningful impact. This feedback reassured us that we’re doing the right kind of work with the right kind of people. Here’s what we learned and what’s next:
Refining Our Focus
We primarily work in manufacturing, and we’re doubling down on that commitment. These are the companies and leaders we understand best. When a general manager calls about an employee challenge, we already speak their language.
Speaking Your Language
We’re updating our website to reflect the way our clients actually talk about their needs. Less consultant-speak. More real language about real challenges.
Showcasing Partnerships
We’re finding better ways to highlight our consulting affiliates and the collaborative approach that strengthens our work. You deserve to know the full team behind the Noble Hill engine.
Sharing Success Stories
Expect to see more case studies, clearer outcomes, and more proof of the impact we create together.
Most of all, we’re filled with gratitude: to our clients who trust us with their people and their futures, to our families and friends who have supported us throughout this journey, to the mentors who’ve guided us, and to everyone who works behind the scenes to make Noble Hill possible. We couldn’t do this alone, and we wouldn’t want to.
Five years in, and we’re just getting started.
